7 December 1895 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 7th December [1895]. Busy all morning arranging papers. Monty looked in & had a little chat. Mrs W. Hanson & Blanche Duncannon came to lunch & I afterwards went out driving with the latter. Miss K. Brown came to see me. She is a dressmaker’s assistant, I have known some time—daughtr of a builder at Leatherhead. She wrote to say she wants to go abroad to improve her mind—so I told her to come & talk it over. Two or three years ago she wrote to say she wanted to improve her mind so I saw her gave her advice & books & now she says she knows French & is learning Italian. I must try & help her. Blanche took me to Lady Burdett Coutts & I paid her a visit. Found her a good deal changed after her illness last summer—but kind as ever.
