6 March 1896 — Milan
Friday. 6th March [1896]. I had tea in my room at 8. Went out on foot to Via Radegonda to see Mlle Canzi & to buy a new piece of embroidery to work– Had lunch at 12 & went to the station to leave by 1.20 train. There I saw the work of last night’s rioters—everywhere at the station broken windows. Otherwise all was quiet. I changed trains at Padua for S. Elena where Countess Pisani’s carriage met me & took me to Vescovana. Eda Alderson who has been travelling in Italy these 2 months with Mrs Borwick met me there. They were at dinner when I arrived.
