28 May 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 28th [May 1896]. I painted the fan all day. Went out at 6 to call on Edith Rucellai (née Bronson) & sat with her some time & she showed us her courtyard & asked advice on the flowers to plant there. As we came away we met Iduna Bel in her gondola & she got into ours & we went to an antiquity shop to buy a picture for Lady Gregory & then to the Montalbas to give them an egg which their green parrot had laid this morning. A pretty little white egg like a pigeon’s. Home to dinner. Mr Horatio Brown dined with us & took him out in gondola in the evening. A lovely hot night.
