Friday. 29th [May 1896]. Got on with the fan– In afternoon read aloud “I promessi Sposi” to Augusta– Read Dante. Iduna to tea. Visit from Mr & Mrs H. Goschen after tea. Went out in gondola to take the air. Miss Hogarth (artist) dined with us & we took her out in gondola– Very hot—& storm threatened & good [deal] of lightening. | |
