2 September 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 2nd [September 1896]. Typed all the morning for Sophy. In the afternoon she & I went to the Edens garden & gathered some roses wh I took to be given to Olga Montenegro. Paid a visit to Mlle Aspasie her aunt who was very miserable. Persuaded her to go out in the gondola for an airing & I sent her mine. The Bishop of Ely, Lady Alwyn Compton, Miss Anderson, Miss Soulsby, Miss L. Gordon, Genl de Horsey, Mr Herbert Thompson & his friend Mr James came to tea. Later Sophy & I took a long row.
