9 October 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 9th [October 1896]. I remained in bed till lunch time in order to get a good rest as I was very much knocked up. I received a letter from Ct Seckendorff in answer to mine offering to go at the end of this month to Friedrichshof saying the Empress could not receive me—so I shall go home direct via Milan at the end of this month. Had a visit from Sr Trombini before lunch. After lunch I took Aspasie out & we went to the Eden’s garden & had tea there.
