31 October 1896 — En route to London
Saturday. 31st [October 1896]. After passing thro’ the French custom house at 12 at night we were able to settle down to sleep. At Leon we had our early coffee– Got to Calais abt 12. On the steamer I was joined by Nevil & Jack Gordon– They came from Amiens & we travelled the rest of the way together getting to London abt 5. Then we parted & they went to Ascot where Lord Stanmore has a house. I went to Savile Row & went to bed very tired. Olga & Ruth Du Cane paid me a visit.
