10 December 1896 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 10th [December 1896]. Nela came & we opened the studio & set to work on fan painting wh I had promised to teach her. My sister Kate returned from Inwood—lunched here & went off afterwards home to Lutterworth. Mme de Bulow came to see me enchanted at her reception in London after 16 years’ absence. Miss Hogarth looked in & promised to come to lunch next week Tuesday. Nela & I drove out at 3 & I went to see Cornelia at Wimborne House who is laid up & in bed. I came home at 4 as it was raining & sent Nela home in the carriage. Typed Henry’s letter to Sir H. Thompson. Our old nursery maid Susan Hepburn came & stayed an hour talking before dinner. After dinner I wrote letters– Abt 10 was taken very unwell & had to hurry into bed.
