16 December 1896 — 3 Savile Row | |
Wednesday. 16th [December 1896]. Studio in morning. Went out driving at 2.30 down to 33 Grosvenor Road to fetch Sophy Palmer & take her out driving. There came on a black fog when I got there & it was dark all the rest of the day. I returned home at 5. I went out to dinner for the first time since Henry’s death. Dined with Francie & Mr Thesiger & met his Uncle & Aunt Mr & Mrs Edward Thesiger & Mr & Mrs Hogarth (He the Egyptian scholar) & a Mr Smith. I got thro’ it very well—altho’ it was a beginning. | |
