1 February 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Monday. 1st February [1897]. I wrote in bed & got up late. Mrs Borwick & Revd Mr Reeve came to lunch & he was very pleased to meet Sophy. Neither she nor I went out as it was very wet & cold. I lent the carriage to Maria. Lord Edward Cecil came to tea. He is very good looking & very tall, being 6 ft. 4 but quite bold tho’ so young. An old Mrs Pole Carew came to see Sophy & stayed also to 5 o’cl tea. Adeline Bedford came to see us. Lady Gregory dined with Sophy & me.
