8 February 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Monday. 8th [February 1897]. I superintended Nelly’s painting a fan in the studio. Mr Vigor called on us so we arranged that he should come & give us a lesson on Wedy. Monty Alderson came to luncheon & also Bee Eliot– I drove out with the latter. As I went out Sir F. Palgrave called– I left him with Nelly & arranged he should lunch here on Friday. We drove to call on Blanche & she was out—on Maria ditto– Called on Mrs Holford she was at home & I found old Miss Duff Gordon sitting with her. Then I went to try & see Nurse Rachel Watson—but she was not so well & I only saw her sister. Then called on Lady Alwyne Compton & saw her—then home & Bee also went her way. Blanche & her girl Olwen came to tea. Edward joined them. We discussed the inscription for the tablet I am putting up for Henry in St Margaret’s Westminster. I went to dine at 17 Cavendish Sqr & also discussed with Edward my position & Nellie’s in the studio which is worrying me—as I dont like her receiving men in the studio after tea till dinner. It rained hard. Home by 11 & to bed.
