24 February 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 24th [February 1897]. I woke with a racking headache & lay in bed till 3.30. In the morng came a telegram from Mlle Perponcher asking me to go to see the Empress at 5 at Buckingham Palace so I dragged myself up—& was but almost dressed when there came a note to say the Empress had had to go to bed with fever. However as I was out of bed I finished dressing & went to be on the sofa in the drawing room. Lady Gregory called on me abt 4. Blanche came to tea & Maria came abt 6 & sat with me. Today I lent my carriage to Constance to go to the Drawing Room. Sophy Palmer came to dine with me. We dined in the drawing room & I went to bed immediately after & Sophy sat with me till nearly 11.
