26 February 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 26th February [1897]. Painted in morning. Blanche came in to see me before lunch. Mr Wyld came to lunch & I had a talk with him about his attachment to Nellie & told him I shd be very glad to be of use to him & in helping them in any way I could. He said his money affairs must first be put in order. He accompanied me & Nellie out driving & they left me in Cav. Sqr to take a walk. I went on to No 17 & found Blanche & the girls just going out driving & I offered to drive Edward to his sister’s in St George’s Sqr. I left him there & went on to Claverton St to see Sir Collingwood Dickson. I found him sitting in a small dressing room smoking a bad cigar as usual. I only remained with him 10 minutes & then returned to fetch Edward and took him to Brooke’s Club & then came home myself. Nela & Ruth Du Cane came to see me. I wrote to the Empress Frederick to enquire after her health. Francie & Fred Thesiger, Mr & Mrs Paul Harvey, Mr Herbert Thompson & Mr John Fraser & Nellie dined with me.
