18 March 1897 — Lutterworth
Thursday. 18th [March 1897]. Down late. After lunch a wood carving class was held in the parish room which I joined. Kate & her Mary, a Mrs Young & 2 Miss Fox worked also. A teacher of the art came from Rugby. After tea Kate & I walked with Mrs Young & accompanied her to her home. We went in to her house to let Kate rest—& then walked home to Lutterworth. We stopped at the grammar school house close there to see it as the trustees want to let it & Kate wanted me to see it & be able to recommend it to others. Eda went off at 3 to go & stay with Mr & Mrs James for some theatricals to which Eda took the string band she leads. Mary went to the theatricals with the Fox so there were only Kate, Cecil & I at dinner. We read over some of the MS in the evening. Mary returned home abt 7 & Kate remained in my room talking till then. Stormy & windy day again.
