26 March 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 26th March [1897]. Worked in the studio all morning. Drove after 11– Before that I took the girls to St James’ Palace to see the mounting of the guard. A pretty sight. The band played. Mr C. Wyld was the officer who received us—& Mr Grant the one who relieved him. Mr Fraser met us there & accompanied us. After lunch to wh my sister Maria came, I drove with Mary. There was a tremendous shower of rain. Quiet April weather. Called on Maria who had Mrs Borwick with her & returned home for tea– Mr Wyld, Mr Glyn & Mr Fraser came to tea– Afterwards I played for Mary to sing till dinner. Lady Gregory dined with us.
