Wednesday. 26th [May 1897]. Rested till 11 when Nellie Alderson, Mary who came up last night to stay with me—& Onie Ponsonby came to my room– Also my brother Monty—& then I got up for luncheon. Walked at 3 with Nellie & Mary to Cav. Sqr to see Blanche & her preparations for the ball she gives this evening. She herself was in her room not having been very well, but she got up for 5 o’cl tea which we had in her bedroom. Lord & Lady Bessboro’ also came to see the house wh was lovely with flowers. Abt 7 I left B. & returned home & went to bed as I was very tired. Mary went to dine with my brother Arthur & Nellie & went on afterwards to the Foreign Office party & then to Blanche’s ball.
