2 September 1897 — Salce, Belluno
Thursday. 2nd [September 1897]. Heavy scirocco & not a paintable day so I began to sketch a corner of the hall & worked till lunch– Mr Eden went in to Belluno with the Cook at 8 when she went in to market. He hurt his leg & came back lame & suffering so tried to be quiet all day. After tea he & I began a sketch of the garden at the open door. At 7 Carry & I took a little walk nearby & returned to dinner at 7.30.
