29 September 1897 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Wednesday. 29th [September 1897]. I went out at 11 to search for an old Venetian cup for Princess Charlotte—& then went to the Hotel Britannia & lunched with her & her suite & then took her & her lady to the station & saw them all off by 2.10 train for Vienna– Princess Charlotte was very sorry to leave—but she has gone to meet her husband & daughter & to announce the latter’s engagement to a Prince Reuss. I came home & rested a while & then went out after tea & paid bills for Lady Vivian. Bp of Ely & Lady A. Compton came to tea. | |
