30 November 1897 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 30th [November 1897]. Nela went out in the morning in sandolo. I stayed in & painted. It was a lovely day so we went to walk after lunch on the Fondamenta Nuove where there was a splendid view of the distant snow capped mountains. We met Trombini there going to his daily visit to the cemetery to his wife’s grave– Mr Montalba & Hilda & Ellen dined with us & Mr Woods. Nela went with the Montalbas to the theatre & Mr Woods spent the evening with me talking mostly about the church decorations.
