16 March 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 16th [March 1898]. Monty Alderson came to see his mother in the morning & took her off to a service at St Pauls to hear young Arthur Mayce give an address to the City men at 1. They returned abt 2 just as I had finished lunch. Then we three walked to Wimborne House to see my brother Ivor. Monty Alderson left us to return to Hatfield. Kate & I went to call on Mrs Borwick. Kate went off to Onslow Gardens to have tea with Connie & I went home. On my way back from Half Moon St this morning when I went to see Arthur, I called to see Mr Burton & asked him to come & talk to me about Arthur. Nellie & I think him very weak & are anxious abt him & wanted to know Mr Burton’s opinion as he sees him from time to time. He did not seem to think him so weak & I was reassured. Nellie returned home to dinner rather late—after Kate & I had sat down. We walked & chatted in the evening & went to bed at 10.30.
