23 June 1898 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 23rd June [1898]. I had a French lesson of Mlle Diamanti. Nellie could not settle down to it as she had things to attend to for Arthur. Blanche came abt 12.30 in hopes of seeing Arthur but he could not have her then so I walked with her. We went to her depôt in Brook St & then to Cav. Sqr & I lunched with her. Lord & Lady Bessboro’ were there. I afterwards drove with Blanche & then she took me to a shop & chose a mantle for me. I then returned home to tea. Mrs Jellico was there. Mr Bond came to give Arthur his bath & was satisfied with him & he had tea with us afterwards & Arthur returned from his room & had his coffee. Then he played bésique with Mrs J. I watered the flowers in the patio– Nellie went out early to the theatre. Rhuvon also dined out & I said I would do so but finally I preferred to remain at home & sat in the drawing room writing while Arthur slept. When he went off to bed at ¼ to 9 I went up to my room & had some tea & retired to bed. There was more air today & it was not so hot.
