Monday. 3rd [October 1898]. Typed—wrote—&c &c. Mr & Mrs Strong came to lunch. He is librarian to the H. of Lords– She is a lecturer on Greek art. Both very pleasant. He is very ugly—she very handsome– They are lately married. he is a wonderfull genius—knows nearly every language—understands cuniform—painting, music &c. Went for a short walk in Piazza—but it rained. Mr Montalba came to tea also General de Horsey, Mr Pollen, Mr Carey. | |
