18 November 1898 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 18th [November 1898]. We had settled to go to see Mme Wiel’s apartment after lunch but Augusta had a bad cold so I started without her. At Mme Wiel’s door in Campo S. Polo where they have gone to live I met her maid who said Mme Wiel was not well so I turned back & went to see Iduna Bel: found her husband better & up– Mr Montalba came to tea & stayed an immense time chatting. When he was gone Augusta went off to bed. I dined alone & wrote letters in evening. | |
