27 November 1898 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 27th [November 1898]. Advent Sunday. Augusta not very well & did not go to church. Mr Carey’s last Sunday here as Chaplain. Went out in gondola in afternoon with Augusta– She went to see Mrs Eden. I came home & met Mrs Curtis at my door & brought her in. Mme Noce also & Hilda & Ellen Montalba. The latter a surprise—& her 1st effort after her severe illness. Mr Carey came at 6.30 to thank me for the inkstand which pleases him very much & we parted very good friends. Two Marqueses de Bentivoglio & Css Olga Mocenigo dined with us. | |
