26 November 1898 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 26th [November 1898]. Went to see Belmondos in the afternoon. He is not so well again & keeps his bed. M. & Mme Moscheles came to call at 5 o’cl to say good bye as they are leaving for England. We had a great discussion, she & I, about strikes, wrongs of workmen &c– I told her that having been myself born in the iron works & having always heard it workings of it talked of I felt I knew that the Iron masters were not the monsters she wd make out. Mr Montalba who was also calling supported my view. Later Idita Bent. came & brought Css Olga Mocenigo to see me.
