8 December 1898 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. [8th December 1898]. I copied pictures the whole morning. Visit after lunch from Mr Edmonds who is doing chaplain here for a few Sundays. Wrote to the Bishop to say did not think Mr Douglas from Genoa will be acceptable on account of his not getting on with Mr Brown. Went out in gondola to Belmondos. He is well & up. Took Iduna out to Piazza & we walked there for an hour. The band was playing. It was a great fête day (the Immaculate Conception) & there were crowds of people & it was a lovely day. Augusta took a walk on her own acct & we met again at tea at 5.
