25 December 1898 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Sunday. 25th [December 1898]. Christmas Day. The Countess gave me 2 or three presents & promises me a gold thimble– We had our plum pudding for dinner made by Knapp & the Ch: cake I had brought stood in the middle of the table. The weather continued cold & bright & the Css managed to fill her ice house before the weather changed to scirocco on the Thursday 29th. I went one day in the carriage to call on Css Miari at S. Elena to convey polite messages from Css Pisani.
