9 January 1899 — Naples | |
Monday. 9th [January 1899]. Got up at 8. Had breakfast. Dressed & packed my bag. At 11 went for a walk with Fannie to her banker so that she might shop– We walked on the sea wall all along as far as the Grand Hotel which I wanted to see again as it was there I had stayed with Henry when [we] were there together on our last pleasure trip in 1894– Then back to the hotel. Had lunch at 1– At 2 Fannie drove me to the station with my bags & I left for Rome at 2.55 & after a comfortable journey got there at 8.20– Byford the man servant met me. Had tea in my room & got soon to bed. | |
