19 February 1899 — Rome
Sunday. 19th February [1899]. I went to morning service in Via Babo. Hilda Keppel came to lunch with me & Lady Louisa [&] Countess Pasolini came to call at 3—& also Ct Girolamo Marcello– Later came Braga the violincellist. He wrote his signature in my book with a few bars of his celebrated “Serenade.” Lady Susan Townley & the younger sister came, Lady Vivian & Violet, Mr Bonham & Mr Kitson (Brit. Emby), Countess Canevaro & Maria Cozzi, the Poet Laureate & Mrs Austin, Count Canevaro, his secy Ct Leonardi, Mme Galletti & her daughter, the Spanish Ambr (Del Mazo), Lady Bonham, Mme del Grillo (the Ristori) & her daughter Donna Dianca, Mme d’Antas, Lady Louisa Legge & Mme de Bülow. It was just 7 when the last of them left me. I went down to dinner with the 2 latter & Lady L. came & sat in my room afterwards.
