31 March 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 31st [March 1899]. Good Friday. We all went to morning service. Also again at 5.30 & from there we went to S. Marks & heard a very fine Miserere of Perosi’s. It was the more effective as the evening gloom came on. The singers were in the gallery over the big doors–& they were answered by voices in the gallery over the high altar. Perosi himself led. | |
