Friday. 12th [May 1899]. I went off by 1 P.M. train from Waterloo to Budleigh Salterton to see Edgar Layard who has been ill since I saw him last in Septr before I went off to Venice. I arrived there at 5.30, was met at the station by Leo & drove up to the house. Edgar was pleased to see me. He is now quite bed ridden & has a nurse to help Jane to attend to him. Dined at 7.30 & sat with Edgar till bed time. | |
