13 May 1899 — Budleigh Salterton
Saturday. 13th [May 1899]. Sat with Edgar all morning. He seemed a little better. Talked of the Affaire Dreyfus, sang scraps of songs & was rather brighter than usual. After 5 o’cl tea I was just going out for a walk when Lady Alice Ewing called on me. She lives close by & I accompanied her to her house & to see her garden—& then went on for a walk on to the cliff & back by the sea parade & so back to the house.
