11 June 1899 — Hatfield | |
Sunday. 11th June [1899]. Monty went off to St Marks for the day to do duty. Kate & I went to church opposite with Reggie. The Prince of Wales was not at church– Lord Wm Cecil preached a very good sermon extempore– Collection for hospitals. In afternoon we went up to the House to see Lady Gwenny & found her at home. The house party had taken the Prince of Wales over to Brockett to see Lord Cowper. Lady Salisbury going on well but yesterday they feared pneumonia & were anxious & Lady Gwenny had had to leave the Royalties & take 3 different Drs up to see her mother who was alarmed about herself. We returned home to tea. Kate & I went to evening service. Reggie went out for the evening. Monty came home to dinner. | |
