29 June 1899 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 29th [June 1899]. Had a visit from Corise who is going after all to divorce her husband Lord Rodney—he has behaved most shockingly. She forgave him for intriguing with the French governess & now finds he was also living with her late maid. Francie Thesiger came later & lunched & then I drove her to her own house 46 Eaton Place & helped her to arrange the furniture in her drawing room– Then went to fetch Nelly. Had a dinner party this eveng consisting of Lady Stanhope, Lady Vivian, Sir Wm & Lady Humphery, Lord Sandwich, Hon. Fred: Leveson Gower, Col. Cuthbert Larking & Mr Hamilton Aidé, Nellie & myself. It was a pleasant evening & old Jane Battrick gave us good food. Nellie went out to a party afterwards & I went to bed.
