16 September 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 16th [September 1899]. My servants arrived from England this morng at 4.30 A.M. viz Jane Battrick the cook with Ada the kitchenmaid, Wilfred the footman, & Calisto the Italian butler. I had a very busy morning arranging for & instructing them as they are all strangers to the place. | |
