18 September 1899 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 18th [September 1899]. We all went off by 9.50 train for Stanghella to pay a visit to Countess Pisani at her villa Vescovana. We all took light bags with us as we were only to spend one night there—but it was quite a business getting the whole party off. We arrived at Vescovana for luncheon & met there Signor Paccardo Saccardo engineer a nice old man who is also architect of St Mark’s at Venice. The Countess sent the Aldersons round the property to see the farms & the gardens &c. Don Antonio was at dinner as usual & made great friends with all the young people & was in the best of humours.
