Tuesday. 31st [October 1899]. Sophy was busy packing all the morning. I went to see Fannie Browning who was in bed not very well. After lunch I accompanied Sophy & May to the Piazza. We dined at 8. May & I played patience till 10.30 when she & Sophy had to leave for the station and they left for London by 11.20 train which reaches Milan at 6 tomorrow morng. Tomorrow they sleep at Basle—next day at Amiens & reach England on Friday. | |
