17 January 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 17th January [1900]. After lunch I walked out with Nelly & we went to order boots for Charlie Wyld who is on the Nadder river & I bought an Etna to send him as a present. When we came home we found her brother Monty who had just come from Lutterworth & he told us he had been to consult his father about the living of Chesterton near Peterboro’ which our cousin Lord Huntly has offered him & which he has accepted. Monty remained to tea & dinner & then returned by train to Hatfield where he is still curate to his cousin Lord Wm Cecil.
