23 January 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 23rd [January 1900]. Bee Eliot came to call & stayed to luncheon & Miss Mary Wyld came & I offered to arrange for her to go out to Madeira if I could get up hospital there as I have a mind to do. I only spoke half in chaff. She jumped at the idea & said she would very much like to do something & I promised to remember her. In the afternoon I took a walk with Nellie—& we dined at Whitehall Court with Mr & Mrs Musgrave & met there Mr Phipps whom I had met at Bere staying with Arthur. We talked about my plan about my vague plan for Madeira & they encouraged me to try it. We had an excellent dinner. Mr Musgrave is rich and has arranged his flat beautifully & luxuriously & is very hospitable. We talked, looked at his treasures & he taught us games of patience. He has family portraits in pastel by Russell wh are very charming. We got home late.
