15 March 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 15th [March 1900]. I went to Cook’s office soon after 9 to try & get a passage for Miss Bickmore on Saturday. They told me to return later so I went home to see what the Drs said about Monty. Burton came to the drawing room & told me & Nelly that Broadbent wishes Monty to keep his bed for 2 or 3 days & according to Monty’s wish would send him a nurse. They cannot yet say what causes the hemorrhage. Burton passes on the case to Broadbent but will visit Monty as a friend. Mrs Laterriere came to see him & spent most of the day with him. After Burton had been I returned to Cooks to see abt Nurse Bickmore’s passage & I found I could secure it. I then went to see Mr John Murray to ask him to recommend a pension at Siena for Violet Vivian. I spoke to him about doing the Parliamentary part of Henry’s life– He suggested asking Mr Reginald Palgrave. I returned home & found Monty’s nurse just arrived. Nela came to luncheon. At 3 the Ponsonby girls called for me in their carriage & drove me to Bethlem & Onie & I paid a visit to Wards 2, 3 & 4—& then returned to our homes. I found Connie waiting for me & Sir Allen Young who had just been sitting with Monty. After tea Connie & I went to Cooks where I got N. Bickmore’s ticket & posted & registered it to her & then I came home. Lady Gwendolin Cecil came to see me to say she had seen Dr Stewart & he wished to have a printed notice of the Madeira Home & she sat down & wrote one wh I will get printed tomorrow. Eda arrived to stay with me. After dinner we sat a little while with Monty & then returned to the drawing room where I typed out the Madeira notice to be printed tomorrow. Nellie went off to Brington to the Humphreys to hunt till Monday.
