30 June 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 30th [June 1900]. At last I have a new maid Baker by name to replace Knapp. She arrived in the morning & after lunch accompanied me on my visit to the Austens at Swinford Old Manor. I got there soon after 4. Sir G. & Lady Murray went down by the same train. He is a high Official in the Post Office. Found Mr & Mrs Lowther also staying there. The weather rather dull—the garden looking beautiful & a hearty welcome. The Austens were very regretful about Countess Pisani whom they had known. We dined at 8.15 & went to bed early.
