5 July 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 5th July [1900]. The 6th Anniversary of Henry’s death. Slowly the days go on, the days go on. Connie & Miss Wyld came to lunch & then I went off to the British Museum & spent a couple of hours amongst Henry’s Nineveh discoveries which made me feel a little nearer to him. It was also quiet & peaceful there. There were many people walking about there but not a soul I knew so that one felt quite alone. Came home at 5 to tea & found there a Mr Williams a gentleman Nelly has lately met– Dr Hyslop came also. He is going away on his holiday. I dined alone quiet evening & to bed early.
