1 August 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 1st August [1900]. I left 3 Savile Row with Mary Alderson by 10.45 train from Paddington & went to Kilgetty Station in Pembrokeshire to stay with Mr Henry Seymour Allen, at Cresselly. He is a distant cousin of the Alderson family and a kind hospitable man—a bachelor & rather peculiar in many ways. We reached Cresselly after 6 P.M. & had a 4 mile drive to the house. Major & Mrs Windham & their son, Mr Arthur W. and a Mr Wylie went down by the same train. We arrived so late that we had no time to dress for dinner. Mr Wylie is an elderly man who was a great friend of the late Lady Holland & seems to know all London society.
