12 October 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 12th [October 1900]. The summer weather is gone—it is grey cold & some rain has fallen. I went to the station at 6.30 P.M. to meet Lady Poynter who has come to stay with me– She is wife of the present Director of the National Gallery & was a lovely woman when young—very petite—& clever & plays charmingly on the pianola.
