11 November 1900 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 11th [November 1900]. Rained hard all day. Took Barbara to morning service & called for Iduna Bel. on the way but we were not able to go out again. Mrs Curtis called at 5 & was very kind & sympathetic about Maria’s illness– The accounts this morning were very bad. Mr & Lady Moira Cavendish & Lady Alex Beauclerk came to call—the two daughters of the Duchess of St Albans– Lady Alex in mourning for her fiancé Lord Chesham’s son who was killed in the Transvaal war—poor child. They have come at a bad moment for sight seeing the weather being so bad.
