16 February 1901 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 16th [February 1901]. Well & up again. Went out at 3 to see Marchesa Cassis the Prefect’s wife she having appointed me to come. Mrs Eden also came there. I went to see Guggenheim & took him some silk he had joined with me in ordering over old Levis of 14 Pozzo Rosso at Vicenza. We talked of art– He showed me curious patterns of old silks that were made in Venice 30 years ago for the Sultan which he had bought as curiosities also Oriental bookbindings & the stamps for ornamenting them made out of camel’s leather!
