16 April 1901 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 16th [April 1901]. At 3 P.M. there was a violent thunderstorm & large hailstones fell bigger than a cherry. At 10 I went off to the Montalbas to sit to Ellen for the finishing of my portrait & got back for luncheon. Did not go out again—copied the Cosimo Lura wh I have not yet finished for my catalogue. Countess Valmarana & her daughter came to tea & Mme Rubini & her girl & Maria Cozzi. In the evening Mr Montalba came & had a chat. After a fine morning it got cold & there was a high wind at night.
