23 April 1901 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 23rd [April 1901]. My gondola being still away at the squero to have its periodical cleaning I walked in the afternoon & went to call on Mme Giacomelli & finding her & her daughter at home had a long talk over the Unione per il Bene– I told her I shd not proceed to interest myself in the matter unless it was on a business footing—a proper Council & sub Committees elected a President & order kept at the meetings. After a deal of talk she settled that we should meet one evening at the Unione to arrange something– I went home by 5. Mme Rubini came to tea with me.
