Friday. 26th [April 1901]. I had asked a good many people to come in the evening– About 30 came amongst them the Prefect & Marchesa Cassis, Countess Canevaro, Genl Barretiara & the rest English—not a very brilliant affair. The Genl was booed by the Italians. | |
