2 June 1901 — Paris | |
Sunday. 2nd [June 1901]. We packed & started at 11 to leave Paris by 11.35 train for Calais. Had a perfect passage & sat on deck. Got places in a saloon carriage at Dover with curious people Sir & Lady Maxwell– He is a spare quiet man. She evidently a violent tempered southerner—probably from the Greek islands– She spoke Italian with a foreign Greek looking gentleman. I was feeling very unwell by that time & was glad when we arrived in London abt 8 P.M. & got at once into a cab & went to Savile Row & was soon in bed feeling very faint—after a little quiet & rest I recovered had some tea & went to sleep. | |
